Year 2000

General

Hyena is designed to run only on Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and later versions of Windows. Hyena can be installed and executed on either a workstation or server and run either locally or through a remote control or Terminal Services session.

Hyena does not alter or modify the normal security model of the operating system. Therefore, some functions may require more rights and privileges than others. If Hyena cannot perform a function due to the end-user not having enough rights, then an error will be returned.

Installation of Hyena will not alter the system configuration or install or alter any existing system settings. Hyena consists of a single .exe file (hyena.exe) and does not include any other executable programs or libraries (.dll files). The only .dll files that are included with the install are standard Microsoft DLL files that are used by Windows for the GUI.

Hyena is written in C++, using the Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) library.

Security

SystemTools Software is committed to provide and secure and stable products:

Hyena does not accept input from a network connection and therefore the common problem associated with buffer overflows and security exploits based on buffer overflows is greatly reduced.

SystemTools Software has developed, since 1997, all of the software components of Hyena with its own staff. All SystemTools Software staff, including developmental and support, are based in the United States.

SystemTools Software does not use or employ any code modules or libraries from outside parties for which it does not have full source code, with the following exceptions:

Use of Microsoft MFC, C, and system runtime libraries.

Use of the Wise Installation system for all installation and "Check for Updates" function (www.wisesolutions.com)

It is therefore not possible for any inclusion of malicious, Trojan, or spy-ware code into any products from SystemTools Software Inc.

Section 508

SystemTools Software has determined that Hyena meets Section 508 compliancy as established by US Government requirements. For more information about Section 508 requirements, visit http://www.section508.gov. For our Section 508 VPAT, click here.

Year 2000

We guarantee that Hyena is compatible with the storage, entry, manipulation, and processing of dates and times that refer to the 21st century, as long as the underlying operating system also supports these dates and times. In the case of Windows NT/2000, for example, there is an operating system imposed limit to the year 2036. The limit of the year 2036 is a documented restriction of Windows NT/2000.

Hyena uses only standard, documented, Win32, C++ (MFC), and C runtime library functions for all date and time manipulation. The primary routines and classes that are used are GetDateFormat and CTime's methods. Hyena's primary use of date information is in the display of file dates, and user account expiration dates.
